Eastern Himalaya consists of the Sikkim Himalaya and the hills and mountains near Darjeeling. Sikkim is basically famous for its beautiful treks and high peaks like Kanchanjunga (8,586 metres), the third highest peak of the world and many other attractions like Buddhist monasteries and sun view point from the famous Tiger-Hill.
Merely being in Sikkim is adventure enough – experimenting with the exotic ‘Soucha’ or nettle soup, waking up in the lap of the Kanchendzonga range, exploring the mysteries and traditions of the monasteries and capturing the exotic flora and fauna on camera provides a range of thrills unreplicated anywhere in as small as area.

HOW TO REACH SIKKIM:

BY AIR:
Sikkim does not have any airport in it, yes but the nearest airport is Bagdogra which is close to Siliguri in west Bengal, which lies about 230 Kms away from Gantok (The capital of Sikkim) and its about 4 hrs drive by car from airport to Gantok.
 
BY ROAD:
Sikkim lies in the foothill of the Himalayas and has a very good network of roads. It can be entered through northern areas of West Bengal. Darjeeling, Siliguri and Kalimpong are directly connected to capital town of Sikkim-Gantok.

BY TRAIN:
The closest railways station is New Jalpaiguri also known as NJP (near Siliguri) which connect Gantok by road. NJP is well connected with major raiways station in India, such as New Delhi, Kolkata and the northern eastern part of India.
